Born: Nova Mahala, Gabrovo district


1853: Student in the Kiev Seminary.

1857: Graduated the Seminary with a Masters' degree.

1857 - 1860: Worked as a teacher in Gabrovo.

1860 – 1878: Editor with the “Bulgarski Knizhnitsi”, “Savetnik” and “Vreme” newspapers, correspondent with the “Moskobskie Novosti” and the “Moskva” newspapers.

Took active part in the struggle for independence of the Bulgarian Church.

Attended the signing of the San Stefano Peace Treaty.

Vice Governor of Plovdiv and Governor of Sofia.

5 July 1879 Headed the First Bulgarian Government

1881: Member of the State Council.

1883: Minister of Finance in General Sobolev's Cabinet.

1884: Member of the Codification Committee.

1886: Minister of Finance in bishop Kliment's second cabinet.

1885 - 1906: Took active part in the political struggles and was one of the editors with the "Vitosha", "Bulgarski glas" and the Russophile "Svetlina" newspapers. Withdrew from the Conservative Party and joined Dragan Tzankov’s liberals.
