SIMEON DJANKOV BEFORE DIE ZEIT: WE NEED THE LOW FLAT TAX RATE
29.11.2012
In the long term Bulgaria wants to adopt the euro, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov said in an interview for the German newspaper Die Zeit. However, he specified that for the purpose the recently launched fiscal pact should gain strength and that there should be very serious sanctions for the countries not observing the rules and that those sanctions had also to be enforced. Bulgaria's position is that our country is not supporting the harmonisation of taxes that some big European states require, Djankov stated. "We need the low flat tax rate in order to catch up and we will need it in the next ten-fifteen years", he added.
