MINISTRY OF FINANCE LAUNCHES PROJECT FOR ENSURING THE QUALITY OF AUDIT ACTIVITY

The project "Improving the adequacy and effectiveness of public sector internal audit through external quality assessment as part of the programme for quality assurance of audit activities" has been launched. The Ministry of Finance is the project beneficiary. It will be implemented by the Internal Control Directorate of the Ministry of Finance.
The project is targeted at internal auditors from ministries, agencies and municipalities which will be made familiar with the practices of other EU members in the area of external assessment of internal audit. Internal Control Directorate experts will take part in the training and development of a methodology for external assessment of the quality of the audit activity.
The specific objectives of the project are related to the achievement of a uniform approach for external assessment of the quality of the internal audit activity. The activities include drafting of a methodology in line with good international practices, training related to the quality of internal audit and making of external assessment. Pilot implementation of the process is envisaged in three internal audit units: the Ministry of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Municipality of Russe.
Project duration is 15 months and it is supported financially by Operational Programme Administrative Capacity co-financed through the European Social Fund of the European Union.
