"It is yet early to comment what we have found in the State. For the time being, I have the forecasts of the revenue agencies for "a gap" of BGN 1 billion in the budget revenues", Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov stated at New Bulgarian Television. The Finance Minister commented that at the moment analyses were being made to find the financial resources to provide for the social measures in the Government Programme. He added that all possibilities for budget flexibility had been exhausted because the GERB government had adopted more than 20 decrees of the Council of Ministers to redistribute funds for projects, most of which being of pre-election character.

Chobanov stated that the Finance Minister should not satisfy everybody's requests. His tasks are the money to be directed towards economic development and progress while observing the financial stability rules. "The Bulgarian Development Bank must be used to stimulate the economy. An analysis of the situation there is pending", Chobanov further said. He added that it was not necessarily required the State to take loans while there was a mechanism available to revive business through the BDB.
