DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER AND MINISTER OF FINANCE SIMEON DJANKOV IS ON AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO SOCIALIST REPUBLIC OF VIETNAM

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov is heading the Bulgarian delegation that will be on an official 4-day visit to Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 16 to 19 October. Members of the Bulgarian delegation are Deputy Minister of Defense Valentin Radev and experts from the Ministry of Defense. The visit is reciprocal and at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguen Thien Nyan, who visited Bulgaria from 2 to 4 September 2012. The programme of Minister Djankov envisages meetings with the President of Vietnam Truong Tan Sang, the Prime Minister of the country Nguyễn Tấn Dũng, and cabinet ministers.

Among the topics to be discussed during the visit are strengthening of the bilateral economic cooperation and encouraging the trade and economic relations between the two countries. A realization will be sought for Bulgarian goods that might be of interest for the Vietnamese market. During his visit Simeon Djankov will discuss the possibility for setting up a Bulgarian agronomic faculty in Vietnam, as well as the exchange of know-how on the conservation of archaeological finds.

During the visit of the Vietnamese delegation in September Bulgaria and Vietnam have agreed to strengthen their bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, education and cultural heritage. The two delegations have agreed to work for the attainment of the objectives set during the 22nd Vietnam - Bulgaria Joint Committee Meeting in June 2012. Among those are the implementation of projects to enhance the trade relations and the relationship between the companies in the two countries in the field of agri-food sector, pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment, chemical industry, agriculture, etc.
