Bulgaria is one of the three EU member states not to raise the tax burden in times of severe crisis and since 2011 it has been the country with lowest tax burden in the Union. This is an achievement we will be sticking to during our entire term of office, said the Deputy Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov while participating in the annual meeting of the business and the government "Europe: Reloading".

Financial austerity is difficult to maintain but it is an important basis for future growth, highlighted the Finance Minister. In his opinion fiscal policy consistency and stability provide for an economic growth in the following years. This is taking place in a time when a number of EU member states and states worldwide are thinking of their survival, he added. The requisite reforms must be made on time so as not to have to make them under the pressure of external factors, said the minister firmly. A second term of office may only be won by the governments of countries with sound financial results, such as Bulgaria, Simeon Djankov concluded.
