Some of the countries that are experiencing a crisis behave themselves like spoilt children, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov in an interview for the Austrian newspaper Die Presse. Central and Eastern European countries are used to relying on themselves, while some South European countries rely on the generosity of others. There they say that the reforms are complicated for one reason or another. This is true but the reforms can be implemented. In Bulgaria we too had to deal with protests and strikes, but obviously Southern Europe finds it difficult to understand that dependency on someone else\'s money weakens the institutions of a country, he added.

The Finance Minister commented also the readiness of our country to adopt the euro as national currency, the reforms in the country and Bulgaria\'s readiness to join the Schengen area.
