First Participation of Bulgarian Finance Minister in the Eurogroup Meeting after Our Country Joins Banking Union through Close Cooperation Mechanism

For the first time Bulgaria took part as a full-fledged member in the Eurogroup finance ministers meeting in the Banking Union discussions. The Minister of Finance Kiril Ananiev was invited to take part in the debate of the Eurogroup ministers on the topics related to the functioning of the Banking Union. This is possible since on 10 July 2020 the Bulgarian lev joined the Exchange Rate II mechanism and the country joined the Banking Union. According to the agenda, there was a hearing of the chair of the ECB Supervisory Board and the Eurogroup members together with Bulgaria and Croatia were informed about the supervisory tasks performed by the ECB banking supervision sincethe previous hearing in June 2020. The chair of the Single Resolution Board reported on the activities of the SRB. The hearing of the two rapporteurs takes place twice a year.
