"In the past months the Government has been focused both on the social policy and on the problems of the businesses, the efforts being to address reduction of the administrative burden and the licensing regimes", stated Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov in his meetings with the IMF teams and representatives of investment banks and rating agencies in Washington.

"The prudent fiscal policy of gradually reducing the budget deficit foreseen in the medium term is an expression of the government will to observe fiscal and budget discipline", stressed the Minister of Finance. During the discussions the Minister outlined the tax and social security policy implemented by the Government, as well as the effective actions of the revenue administrations aimed at ensuring resources for fiscal policy implementation, improving the business environment and stimulating economic activity, and also preventing tax fraud.

The meetings of the headed by the Minister of Finance delegation took place in Washington within the spring meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund.
