Deputy Prime Minister Assen Vassilev hosted a meeting with the Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Karamanlis

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Grozdan Karadjov, Minister of Transport and Communications Nikolay Sabev and Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov discussed the development of the transport and energy connectivity between Bulgaria and Greece with a Greek delegation headed by Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Karamanlis. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers of Finance Andrei Tsekov and Ivaylo Iaydjiev, as well as by Violeta Lorer – Head of the Political Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Minister of Finance.
Deputy Prime Minister Vassilev focused on Bulgaria's participation in the concession procedure for the port of Alexandroupolis. He highlighted that ensuring connectivity would help our country to improve the supply chain and to have wider access to alternative energy sources. Minister Karamanlis also highlighted that the involvement of our country in the port would play a key role and would provide a connection “from sea to sea”, connecting the Black and the Aegean Seas.
The improvement of transport connections through the construction of express roads and railways was also discussed during the meeting. These will ensure connectivity between Bulgaria, Greece and Romania. Thus, opportunities for faster movement of people and goods will increase and connections among EU countries will improve.
