The meeting between Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov and his German counterpart Wolfgang Schauble today continued more than an hour. The meeting with the Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic was one of the series of meetings with Ministers of Finance of Eurozone countries.

Simeon Djankov informed the Finance Minister Mr. Schauble about Bulgaria\'s firm intention to join the Eurozone as well as about the preparation of our country for ERM-2. The Bulgarian Minister of Finance familiarized his counterpart with the main parameters of Bulgaria\'s Convergence Program and the reforms envisaged therein. The two Ministers shared the opinion that the reform in the pension sector was one of the most important reforms not only for Bulgaria but also for the European Union as a whole.

Simeon Djankov and Wolfgang Schauble also discussed the economic situation in the EU and the possibilities for an exit from the recession. The German Finance Minister congratulated his Bulgarian counterpart for Bulgaria\'s best financial result among EU-27. Mr. Schauble expressed his confidence in the positive economic growth in 2010 of the EU as a whole.
