During the meeting of the ECOFIN Council held on February 21, 2012 Bulgaria submitted a statement to the ECOFIN Council with regard to item \"Contribution to the meeting of the European Council on 1-2 March 2012\" as part of the conclusions of the Member States participating in the EURO PLUS Pact:

„In line with what was agreed in the Euro Plus Pact Bulgaria underlines that tax policy coordination commits MS to engage in structured discussions on tax policy issues- notably to ensure the exchange of best practices, avoidance of harmful practices and proposals to fight against fraud and tax evasion.

Bulgaria reiterates that direct taxation remains a national competence.\"
