The economic programme and the reforms planned by the Government are aimed at restarting of the economic growth. This is what Minister of Finance Petar Chobanov said at a meeting with the IMF Resident Representative for Bulgaria and Romania Mr. Guillermo Tolosa. Minister Chobanov added that the guidelines and the expertise of the Fund\'s economists in discussing and determining the economic growth model to be followed in the ensuing years would be highly appreciated. The Minister outlined the sectors of education, business environment, social policy, energy, labour market as the main focus of reforms. Mr. Chobanov also presented the message of the 2014 budget, i. e. the need to define measures aimed at optimizing expenditure and releasing of resources in the conditions of limited financial means. The ministers will have to point out the policies, priorities and actions that would lead to growth and employment, he explained.

On his behalf the IMF Resident Representative assured the Minister of Finance of the readiness of the Fund\'s economic team to help with expertise in the formation and evaluation of policies and the conducting of structural reforms.
