BULGARIA’S LONG TERM INTEREST RATE IS AT ITS LOWEST LEVEL SINCE 2007

The monthly fall of Bulgaria's long term interest rate by 59 basic points is the third largest reduction among EU Members States for the past month show the ECB harmonized long term interest rate of EU Members States data for August published today. The indicator for Bulgaria is 4.28% compared to 4.87% for July. Greater reductions of this indicator have registered only Greece - 148 b.p. (from 25.8% to 24.34%) and Portugal - 60 b.p. (from  10.49% to 9.89%).

In August Bulgaria's long term interest rate is lower than that of seven euro zone Member States and that of five EU Members States that are not members of the currency union. Since the beginning of the year Bulgaria's long term interest rate has fallen by 1.02 percentage points (5.30% in January 2012), its current value being at its lowest level since the spring of 2007.
