It is quite natural for every government to seek to reform the unreformed sectors in the conditions of a crisis, said the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov on BNT1. If we do not make those reforms, we will confront a very tough decade, said the minister and explained that the expenditure allocated to such sectors was at the expense of all tax payers.

"I fervently hope that we will not come to that and there are enough reasons to make the pension reform right now in Bulgaria", added the Finance Minister on the occasion of the expectations for vetoing the State Social Security Budget Law as approved by the National Assembly. "The reform is in fact behind by a couple of years. This is the current trend in Europe", the minister pointed out.

He esteemed the news from the EU Summit as good news. In his opinion, Bulgaria was one of the few EU members that had preserved their financial stability. Europe had come to the concept of the Bulgarian Financial Stability Pact, which helped our country. Djankov reminded the firm position of Bulgaria against the proposals for financial stimuli of EU Member States lacking financial discipline by reducing their share in the co-financing of EU-funded projects.
