Minister of Finance Rumen Porodzanov met the New World Bank Permanent Representative for Bulgaria Mr Anthony Thompson. He was introduced by Ms Mamta Murthi, Country Director for Central Europe and the Baltic Countries, who stated that the over 20-year cooperation between the WB and Bulgaria now turned towards establishing the shared prosperity and economic development that were working for the benefit of all.

Minister Porodzanov expressed his gratitude and high appreciation for the long standing partnership between the parties which was extremely useful and positive for our country. He informed about the up-to-date financial and economic situation and the challenges for the next few months. During the discussions both parties commended the constructive and beneficial dialogue that had found expression in the higher effectiveness and the very good results achieved by Bulgaria's cooperation with the financial institution. 

Anthony Thompson has been appointed Permanent Representative of the World Bank for Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia in July 2014 after four years as Manager of Strategies and Operations, Human Development Sector, Washington Headquarters. He replaces Markus Repnik and his meeting at the Ministry of Finance is part of his formal introduction to the Bulgarian authorities. The WB Permanent Representative expressed the honour and pleasure of taking the position for Bulgaria and his willingness to continue the beneficial cooperation with the Bulgarian institutions. Minister Porodzanov thanked Mr Markus Repnik for his professionalism, efforts and fruitful work during his term of office in Bulgaria.
