"A calm year lies ahead for all Europe", said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance at the International Conference "Russia and the World: Challenges of Integration" which is part of the Gaidar Forum in Moscow. He took part in the panel "New Configuration of the Global Financial System" at the invitation of the Russian Federation Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov.

Minister Djankov outlined the prospects for the European economy in 2013 and added that the "decisions taken in 2012 to set up a single banking supervisor, the fiscal compact and the European Financial Stabilisation Mechanism will guarantee the stability needed for the Union and will contribute to a faster growth and greater competitiveness". The Deputy Prime Minister also said that in this situation Bulgaria stood out from the rest of the EU members as one of the three states observing the Maastricht criteria and the second European state with lowest debt and third lowest deficit.

The Gaidar Forum is one of the key events dedicated to economic policy in Russia.. Among the participants were Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Aleksei Ulyukaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, Aleksei Kudrin, former Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy.
