Deputy Prime Minister for EU Funds and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Bulgaria H.E. Hiroshi Narahira. They discussed the opportunities for enhancing the cooperation between the two countries.

At the meeting Minister Vassilev presented some aspects of the Recovery and Resilience Plan in the area of transport and electricity which are already attracting big international companies and investors.

Ambassador Narahira paid tribute to the government for the good work and for the progress made in the fight against corruption. He highlighted that Bulgaria had enormous potential and opportunities for economic development. 

They also discussed Bulgaria’s strategic role in the Western Balkans region, as well as the potential for cooperation in the area of risk management and high-technologies, i.e. areas where Japan has enormous experience.
