The financial part of the EC report is very positive for Bulgaria not only because of the lifting of the excessive deficit procedure, but also because of the appreciation of the progress in our external competitiveness, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Simeon Djankov stated in an interview for Standard daily. According to him at the beginning of next year an increase of salaries and pensions is expected, this being conditional on revenue collection and the sale of unneeded state assets. Minister Djankov added that with the enforcement from 1 July of this year of the Civil Servants Law the remuneration in some agencies and ministries would rise. This is due to the alignment of the basic salary levels in all government institutions provided for in the Law.

The Deputy Prime Minister is not expecting the relocation of administrations to cost much for the budget because nothing will be paid for the buildings to be occupied outside Sofia. He pointed out that the large agencies would not be relocated at the same time and that each step would be taken over time.
