OECD
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an established international organisation with a leading role in developing and implementing the highest standards in all key areas such as governance, tax policy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, education, digital economy and innovation, climate, etc. The OECD has 38 member countries, including the most developed economies from Europe, North America, South America and Asia. In addition to Bulgaria, candidates for OECD membership are also Romania, Croatia, Brazil, Argentina and Peru.
In order to prepare Bulgaria for the opening of negotiations for membership in the OECD Decision №789 of the Council of Ministers of 20.12.2017, as amended with Decision of the Council of Ministers № 444/11.06.2021, a special permanent Interinstitutional Coordination Mechanism (ICM) for Bulgaria's accession to the OECD has been established. The ICM is chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and it is attended by representatives of the ministries and departments engaged in cooperation with the OECD. The measures for the preparation of our country are included in the three-year Accession Roadmap (https://www.mfa.bg/bg/bg-oecd/bg/podgotovka) containing concrete actions for accession to the OECD.
