"Bulgaria will continue to use the toolbox and the wide expertise of the World Bank in implementing the priorities of the government and will strictly fulfil the commitments already taken", Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov said the above at his first meeting with Antony Thompson, World Bank Country Director for Bulgaria.

Minister Goranov presented the great challenge facing the new government of the country, related to the increased budget deficit but he assured Antony Thompson that the Ministry of Finance had taken disciplining measures and in the draft of the 2015 state budget that indicator was within the limits of up to 3% of GDP.

During the meeting they discussed the cooperation between the WB and our country and again expressed their willingness to maintain a constructive dialogue.

Antony Thompson has been appointed as World Bank Country Manager for Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia in July 2014 following four years working as Manager for Strategy and Operations at the Human Development Network, based in World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, DC.
